Description: The Commanders Family of Restaurants, Inc. is a management company that provides services to various restaurants including Commanders Palace in New Orleans, Commanders Palace in Las Vegas, Brennans of Houston, and various other non-restaurant entities. The services provided include handling all financial and accounting matters for the restaurants as well as providing assistance with benefit plan administration, risk management and other. The staff accountant is responsible for handling all financial matters of several of the restaurants operations. Specifically, the duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following areas for selected companies:
- Review of daily sales and payables transactions that are processed at the restaurant level
- Preparation and analysis of financial statements including developing necessary adjustments to close financial periods
- Preparation of sales tax returns and evaluate fixed assets and expense items for sales tax accruals
- Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
- Preparation of tax workpapers to be provided to tax preparers for review
- Fixed assets handling all aspects for selected companies
- Compilation of financial package for Board of Directors
- Other special projects as needed
An accounting degree is preferred but is not required if the applicant has adequate experience with similar responsibilities. The salary will be determined based on the experience level of the candidate.
